Short Bio

Colin Sankey is a bass player, composer, and arranger from Vancouver, BC. Compared to Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, and Alain Caron, his use of extended techniques, such as tapping and harmonics, creates lush harmonies and infectious grooves that sound almost orchestral in nature.

Recently, Colin travelled to New York and won 1st place in the 2022 Phil Jones Solo Bass Competition, playing one of his original compositions Musica de la Noche. He was also the 2nd place winner of the 2021 BITE Bass Contest (worldwide), hosted by Charles Berthoud, and has been featured on George Collier's YouTube channel, with over 800,000 subscribers. Colin recently released his debut album, Reawakening, which has been featured on Bass Magazine and CBC Radio, and releasing his second album on Feb. 15, 2025, funded by Creative BC.

Colin recently went viral on TikTok with his arrangements of Get Lucky by Daft Pun, Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes and the Mario Theme, reaching over 15 million views between the three arrangements on Instagram and TikTok. He continues to share his inspiring arrangements of jazz, funk, rock, and Latin music with his 221,000+ followers across all platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Youtube.
